Hargeisa: Laboratory Technicians Training on Modern Equipments

Hargeisa-(Berberanews)- Standard Diagnostic (SD) INC and Human Care Diagnostics have organized a 2-day workshop for 17 laboratory technicians from the 6 regions of Somaliland on SD products training In Haraf Hotel.
The workshop is aimed to  give  the technicians an intensive training about SD products such as SD Bioline HIV 1/2 3.0,HCV,HBsAg,Syphilis , TB and also to share their experience.


Mr. Alishakir Mohamoud Abdalle Manager of HumanCare Diagnostics firstly spoken and expressed his gratitude and given a brief introduction of both Companies: SD who sponsored the training and HumanCare who implemented and facilitated the training.
“This is the first time such kind of training to be held in Somaliland” Mr. Alishakir said.
, “We have contributed to the development and modernization of healthcare infrastructure especially the laboratories. Due to our contact with different international companies we have made such improvements.”he added.
“Human Care imports medical instruments, equipments and Invitro Diagnostic tests(IVD) for private and public laboratories. We have succeeded in providing labs with cheaper,high product and state of the art Laboratory instruments and their spare parts and train laboratory technicians”
Speaking about the workshop he said, “We brought international standard products in order to be trained to these technicians .We are concentrating  on this training to realize the goal of SOLNAC and Ministry of Health on HIV-AIDS lab test  that has loopholes in their tests. Mr. Alishakir Also requested from the Ministry of Health to make sure that the International NGOs should make their procurements locally, instead of purchasing from abroad, this will be benefited by both government and people .

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Mr.  Abdi Ahmed Nour , Director General of the Ministry of Health in his opening speech welcomed the training aimed to raise technical know how of lab technicians from the six regions.
He said, “I perceive that the workshop is an indicator of public and private cooperation in the medical field. The private sector has developed a lot and the increase in the number of companies is quite evident.’
Addressing the participants of the workshop he said, “You represent your colleagues in the regions. You are expected to make the best of the 2 day training. I hope that you will raise and discuss difficulties, problems and mistakes encountered in your laboratories, for discussion and analysis.”
The Director General added that this is an opportunity to have such training in the country and the ministry welcomes such endeavors.
“We are ready to provide full cooperation and encourage having regular meetings in the different aspects of health.” He added.
Mr. Omar Ali Hassan, Vice chair person of Somaliland Medical Laboratory Association (SOMLA) has praised Human Care Diagnostic and SD Company for their great support.
“We, as laboratory technicians, are proud to have this kind of training, as the trainees are members of our organization”. he said.

The training has been requested by Somaliland National Aids Commission(SOLNAC) after  an assessment of their staff on VCT Centers in  lack of knowledge of SD products.
