Somaliland: Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Mohamed Abdullahi Returns

HARGEISA(SomalilandPress)—Somaliland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Abdulahi Omar returns from United State of America where he has been lobbying to push for Somaliland recognition. Dr. Omar left for United States of America two weeks ago where he was pushing for recognition from representatives from the permanent seat on the UN Security Council. Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Omar spoke shortly with the press at Egal International Airport’s VIP room as he give details about his trip to USA and what he was able to achieve.

Dr. Omar told the press that while he was in Washington DC he was guest speak at International Republican Institute a think tank based in DC. At that event Minister said he explain to the audience about Somaliland’s achievement, its democratization and its fight against pirates and terrorism. The last part of his trip the minister met with representatives of all the countries that have a permanent seats on the UN Security Council as he explain to them Somaliland’s quest for recognition and how Somaliland is a beacon of hope in a troubled region.

Dr. Omar conclude by informing Somaliland citizens that in recent days several Somaliland news outlets have written incorrect information regarding UN envoy to Somalia ambassador Augustine Mahiga meeting with opponents of Somaliland Canada. Foreign Minister Dr. Mohamed went on to say that Ambassador Augustine Mahiga met with Somaliland and Somalia residents in Canada at which point Dr. Mahiga only spoke about issues concerning Somalia and how to resolve it from its current chaos.
