Hargeysa-Nomenber,10, 2011-(Berberanews.com)Somaliland’s Migration Resource Centre Popularly known as MRC aims to provide direct humanitarian assistance and referral services to migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
On Wednesday-Nov/9th/2011 Mr. Abdi-Kani Dahir Ismail handed his post as the director general of MRC to MRR&R’s new appointed MRC Director General.
After The meeting chaired by the Director General of the Ministry of Resettlements, Rehabilitations and Re-constructions (MRR&R) of the Rep. of Somaliland, Mr. Ahmed Elmi, the press had a chance to interview the out-going D.G. Mr. A. Dahir Ismail on his departure.
Mr. Dahir when asked by reporters what were the reason and/or cause for his termination, said “the only reason I got fired as the D.G. of MRC is because of a disagreement between the D.G. of MRR&R Mr. Elmi and me.” Mr. Dahir added by saying “and the disagreement was that the D.G. of MRR&R refused to hand over a vehicle which belonged to MRC, thus resulting my termination”.
When the out-going D.G. of MRC was asked by reporters which government institution mandate does MRC fall under? Mr. Abdi-Kani Dahir Ismail replied “MRC directly falls under the supervision and mandate of MRR&R” however, he said “ the D.G. and I had difference of opinions on the issue concerning who has the right of use of the vehicle, the Ministry of RR&R or MRC?”
When The Director General of MRR&R Mr. Ahmed Elmi was asked by the press on whether he would comment of those allegations said “ I’m in a total state of dismay by the factual and artificial false statements coming out of the previous D.G of MRC Mr. Abdi-Kani Dahir Ismail” Mr. Elmi continuing said “ since MRC falls directly under the mandate of this Ministry (MRR&R), Mr. Ismail was hired by this Ministry and he was not, and I repeat was not fired for insignificant reason such as disagreements over a vehicle and it was absolutely not the case for which he was fired for” Mr. Elmi said. When asked what was the reason behind Mr. A.Dahir Ismail’s termination, the D.G of MRR&R replied, “Do to confidentiality and the rights of government employees, unfortunately I cannot disclose or share this information with the media.”
The Director General of MRR&R in his final statement addressing the press said “Mr. Abdi-Kani Dahir Ismail work done during the time as D.G. of MRC is truly appreciated and on behalf of the Hon. Minster of RR&R, the staff of MRC as well as MRR&R, I wish him the best of luck and success on his future endeavour/s”.
