Hargeisa-(Berberanews)- Somaliland, has officially announced the suspension of all UN projects in its country.
Minister of Information, Awareness and Culture Suleiman Yusuf Ali Koore, announced that all UN projects in the country have been suspended, as the government considers UN projects to be used for political purposes against nationalism and independence of the Republic of Somaliland.
He added that the government felt that these projects were an affront to the destiny of the nation and the independence of the Republic of Somaliland.
“We have asked ourselves, do you take anything that harms the sovereignty of your country and your people by small projects funded by the UN, or do you protect the independence of the people?”
Therefore, we have completely stopped UN projects that are undermining the sovereignty of the Republic of Somaliland,” said Minister Koore who spoke to some media outlets in Hargeisa.
However, the Minister did not specify the nature of the UN projects that were suspended and how they were damaging Somaliland’s independence, but stressed that some projects were politicized, so they decided to suspend them.
