Italy-(Berberanews)-A 70-year-old woman’s body was discovered two years after she died in her home in northern Italy.
Marinella Beretta was a single woman who resided near Lake Como in Lombardy. According to Como City Hall press secretary Francesca Manfredi, her decaying body was discovered on Friday by the Como fire department after complaints that a tree had fallen in her garden due to overgrown vegetation.
The reason of Beretta’s death is unknown, however based on the extent of decomposition, the examiner has determined that she died somewhere around the end of 2019.
No relatives have yet come forward, according to Manfredi, who added that authorities are looking into if she has any living relatives.
Beretta’s body is still in the mortuary, and no funeral date has been chosen, according to Manfredi.
Mayor Mario Landriscina of Como has extended an invitation to the town’s citizens to attend Beretta’s burial. On Tuesday, he told the Italian press that the burial arrangements will be handled by the local authorities.
“I’ll attempt to be there, and I’m inviting the city to be there,” Landriscina said, adding, “This is the opportunity to be together, and even if this woman has no relatives, we may become her relatives.”
