USA-(Berberanews)-A senior US source has warned that Russia’s military is on the verge of invading Ukraine in days and has encouraged Americans to leave the country immediately.
At a White House press briefing on Friday, Jake Sullivan, US President Joe Biden’s national security advisor, claimed that US observations and intelligence suggest Russia has all the military elements needed for an invasion of Ukraine.
“We can’t pinpoint the day or the hour at this point,” Sullivan said, cautioning that US officials do not believe Putin has chosen to invade and that the US is still seeking a diplomatic solution to the problem.
“We are not claiming that a decision has been made – that President Putin has made a definitive choice.”
“What we’re saying is that based on what we’re seeing on the ground, we have a sufficient level of worry,” Sullivan told reporters at the White House.
“We continue to see indicators of Russian escalation,” Sullivan added, “including new forces coming at the Ukrainian border.”
“As we’ve already stated, we’re in a window where an invasion may start at any time if Vladimir Putin decides to order it.”
Americans in Ukraine should depart within the next 24 to 48 hours, according to Sullivan, and any who require assistance in arranging transportation out of the country should call the American embassy in Kyiv.
