Floods in Mozambique killed 11 people and displaced tens of thousands.

Mozambique-(Berberanews)-Flooding in Mozambique has killed 11 people and displaced about 2,700 people in the last week, according to aid officials.

It comes after tropical storm Dumako dumped heavy rains across the country between February 15 and 22.

Niassa, Nampula, and Zambézia are the provinces that have been hit the hardest.

According to Nelma Arajo, a spokesman for the national disaster service, 34 dwellings were completely destroyed, 292 were partially damaged, and 111 were flooded.

Three housing centers in Nampula were also forced to close due to the weather.

Mozambique has experienced rainfall, strong winds, air discharges, fires, and tropical storms Ana and Dumako since the start of the rainy and cyclone season in October.

More than 250,000 people have been affected by these meteorological disasters, which have resulted in 72 deaths and 251 injuries, according to Ms Arajo.
