Thursday August 10, 2023, Hargeisa Somaliland – On Wednesday August 9th , two vehicles owned by Halo Trust traveling between Hargeisa and Berbera were abducted by unknown assailants, along with one of its drivers, fortunately no other individuals were involved, and the driver was released today unharmed.
The vehicles are still not accounted for, and the Republic of Somaliland Government security forces, along with the local police are investigating the incident. The government is committed to bringing those responsible to justice.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland wants to assure all citizens and foreign agencies that this was an isolated incident, and the Hargeisa-Berbera road is a safe route that is used by thousands of people on a daily basis.
